Draft Plan of 1st copy
Article for Studiobinder (specialises in information for filmmaker enthusiasts)
Viewing preference: According to Statstica the ages 25 to 34 in 2021 were the most prominent age bracket for online users compared to only 18% of ages in the 18 to 25 age bracket. This information is resourceful as we can more effectively narrow the copy specific to that audience (25 to 24). This means if we want to engage the most with my content.
Using the data from Neilson Norman Group, the article doesn't need to be ultra-easy to browse as young generations 'tend to be extremely confident in their own ability to navigate digital interfaces'. They also should 'build a relationship' with the reader over time.
25-34. This age bracket commonly resembles those with post-graduates reading abilities and a strong connection with the digital world.
To expand the target audience, writings are not going to be gender-specific.
Geodemographics:
This article is being published on Studio Binder, an online website that is reputable and popular with the film production industry.
Protected characteristics:
It's important that my writing is ethical, and upholds good principles. I.e. content is not misleading to be racist, homophobic or heterosexist.
Consumption habits:
Writing an article comes with its challenges and strengths. From my own experiences, articles can be consumed better than a book, it highlights the most relevant and critical information, unlike a book that is more open to discussions and speculative.
People want or need something to relate to so that they can more easily identify/ understand what is been said. Including Anderson, TikTok Trend would be a great example. am going to include common themes spoken about film production and influence.
Writing structure:
Adjectives that best describe the millennial's preference are that the information needs to be formal, moving and intriguing, avoiding cliche comments. It also needs to carry a degree of authenticity as it could be later referred to and carry a level of trust and respect. According to sources such as Firstediting, contractions should be avoided, to not be depicted as having a casual approach.
Stereotypical approach for females: The content is going to include a personal element to Wes Anderson. I.e. his influence. Rhetorical questions are going to come up as it may ask a few of their questions.
Stereotypical approach for males: The content will focus on more of a direct response. For example, method equals outcome.
Implementations:
After establishing the foundations of my chosen audience. I can now utilize their resourcefulness by implementing them in my article. To ease the assembly of the material, I will follow a step-by-step guide.
1. Evaluate a format that best suits the interest of the reader.
2. The first paragraph should include an exciting introduction including Anderon's profession and portfolio.
3. Second paragraph- Narrow on specific details of his early career to show his development as a filmmaker.
4. Third paragraph- Discuss his cinematography techniques compared to others in the profession. i.e. Martin Scorses,
Key objectives:
- Use technological terms used commonly in the film industry. For example tableau compositions.
- Elaborate and justify my response with reputable sources. i.e. Interviews, well-established companies and statistics.
- To implement protected characteristics my copy will avoid narcissistic and racist comments. It will also take into consideration information that may be misleading or deceiving.
Demographics: According to multiple sources (Stastica, exploding topics), people under 30 years old are the main listeners of podcasts overall.

THE SENSATION STYLE & CAPTIVATING
TECHNIQUES OF WES ANDERSON
by Stanley Phelps on April 7TH 2023
Wes Anderson is a cinematic genius, a distinctive visual creator whose filmmaking is impressively unique and intriguing. His cinematography portfolio entails symmetry, whip-pans and tableau compositions as well a unique and compelling aesthetic.
This article will explain in-depth Anderson's development from the embryonic originality of Bottle Rocket, through to snapshots of his later cinematography portfolio, including his relationship with the work of his inspiration Stanley Kubrick.
Over his ambitious career, Wes has achieved it all, from stop motion, Fantastic Mr Fox, to the science fiction comedy-drama, The Grand Budapest Hotel. His career started at the University of Texas where he met lifelong friend Owen Wilson, who with his talent made a low-budget film called Bottle Rocket. Starring Owen Wilson and his brother Luke. This exciting collaboration caught the eyes of film enthusiast Kit Carson. Who with his connections, brought to the table, a larger budget, producing a full feature film.
In film production, Wes Anderson would use specific camera movements. Most noticeable is the whip pan method. This entails moving the camera on the X-axis, connecting two scenes seamlessly. The outcome emotion is a scene of urgency and excitement. According to technical research, a student of film. Says is to reveal something unexpected or new, demonstrating a transition that defining and uncommon.
Wes Anderson is eccentric when it comes to his beloved symmetry. Videomagizine, a video production company would agree, saying his symmetry is 'inherently pleasing to the eye' and 'provides a natural focus point for each composition'. Making waves film Festival offers a scientific viewpoint as to why Anderson uses these assumptions techniques, saying there's a 'psychological connection between the human brain and symmetry', hence why it is so 'mesmerising'.
'Tableau', a living picture, consists of a static scene containing two or more characters. Anderson uses these 'living pictures' to stage a setting, resulting in what is believed to be a more complex experience. I would recommend you watch his stop-motion hit, Fantastic Mr. Fox. To first understand the basis of this method and secondary observe at ease since the target audience is 5-7 years old. If you are looking for a movie that is more of an intermediate level of humour and plot I would recommend either French Dispatch or The Royal Tenenbaum (age ranking 15+).
Anderson is so profound in his colour palette, that a retail website has used it to promote its products. Mia Buton is a company that produces and sells glasses. They describe their website as a boutique for eye lovers. Mia Buton conveys how they admire Anderson's choice by using his colour palette on branded glasses. For example in The Fantastic Mr. Fox, we have a continuous occurrence of 'honey yellow', reminding us of Beans (villain protagonist) 'metal gold ciders' and Mr. Fox's rugged fur. This homage towards Anderson's love of colour is truly inspiring.
Of course, where did Anderson get these exuberant ideas from? Well, in an interview he claimed Stanley 'Kubrick is one of my favourites' later saying he was 'pretty influenced' by the auteur. This could explain why Anderson, explores 'the visual power of cinema and the voyeuristic expectations of the audience'.
Evaluation of 1st piece:
The readability of my copy is key in finding whether I have achieved my target audience's reading abilities. For this piece of work, I have scored challenging nearing difficult, the average sentence length is 15 words, ideal if I wish to attract a post-graduate/ young adults audience.
The next question to ask myself is, whether the copy is in the right format for the right medium?
Conniving title, credits author (me), includes Anderson's profession
Ways to make the copy more effective:
I need to include another director for comparison. Otherwise, It may come across as biased or over-appreciative of Anderson. Which by no means he's not but more to 2 sides of how a director my approach different ideas.
Draft Plan for 2nd copy
Spotify podcast script:
Producing a Spotify script is a great way for me as a copywriter to understand how Wes could be used in more of a conversational context. A Spotify Podcast is a great way to involve a young audience who may want to learn in their free time or want to use their eyes for other activities. i.e. a walk. It generally seems more conventional and easy since it requires less effort for the brain to process.
The viewing preference is expansive. Spotify is an app that works on multiple devices, the most popular being a mobile phone. This means consumption can be obtained by most individuals. Spotify is a paid-for subscription, mostly used as a listening platform for music lovers. In that sense, it would seem appropriate to expand on the musical element of Anderson's films. According to multiple sources (Stastica, exploding topics) under 30s are the main listeners of podcasts overall but this does not mean the readability and language needs to be more
So what geodemographic are we aiming for here? well, enthusiasts or the everyday person who has at least watched one of Anderson's film pictures. So at least has something to refer to or gain. The copy will however be open to less advanced/ experienced individuals.
The copy needs to be well-spoken, to avoid any misleading comments that may lead people to speculation. This is one way I'm going to uphold protected characteristics.
How will the script be structured?
If this were a channel then an intro would be in order. After this an overview of the 'episode'. I will use this method to encapsulate my audience.
This is a template made by Buzzsprouts (a podcasting hosting solution that helps businesses create podcasts) it suggests how an order for a podcast can be done.
What I've noticed from listening to podcasts like 'My Directory of a CEO' or 'Mindset Mentor'. Is that they all share the same quality as a conversation, that is they segue through different topics, meaning it transitions between components naturally. These techniques avoid abruptness. To implement this I will put a sponsor or link themes together during a transition.
Final planning point:
My aim for the copy is to be open-minded about topics not simply to appraise Anderson's works but to counterargument them.
Draft for 2nd copy
Episode 27:
King of Symmetry!
(Intro of the Podcast is played)
1. Introduction:
Host: Welcome I am your host Stanley and in today's episode
of Great Film Directors, we will uncover the hidden secrets of this film director who you might know as the King of Symmetry! (pause) That's right Wes Anderson. For those who have yet to hear of Anderson and his unique approach to cinema, then you're in for a ride.
(Sound effects are played)
2. Why Anderson?
Host: Now I thought it would be a great idea to dive deep into the mind of someone who has maintained a child-like perspective on the world. As we know children often have an abundance of imagination and curiosity. Anderson carries these same characteristics, making him a black sheep in the world of directors.
3. His style.
Host: He falls into the category of post-modernism, which by definition means a mixture of styles from different time periods. This might just explain why he is experimental and never follows one theme. Well, that is apart from his symmetry of course, where he definitely succeeds in finding something to clasp our attention.
4. King of Symmetry
Host: Speaking of symmetry. Anderson manages to make the effect so profound it almost seems too good to be true or in this case real!. 'Inherently pleasing to the eye' some might say. His works like Moonrise Kingdom and Grand Budapest Hotel feel so surreal, I feel as though I'm watching a living picture. Apparently, there is a reason I feel this way: according to other resources,(slow-paced)' there's a psychological connection between the human brain and symmetry.'
(Quick word from Sponsor, Martin Scorses Masterclass)
5. Music Montage
Who here remembers the first time they went to the cinema or anytime. (pause) When the lights dimmed and the opening title appeared and a sound so great it made the movie just that much better. In my opinion, Anderson exceeds in this category, except using everything from radio hits to little-known music creating something 'diverse and interesting' according to Musicbed, which for anyone who doesn't know is a music listening platform made for presiguious filmmakers.
6. Influence on culture
His music might be familiar to you, Does anyone here have Tiktok? As you might be familiar with this song, Obituary
(preview of song is played)
This song has really hit the internet by storm. As a bit of fun people have made their own Anderson-style montage titled 'You better not be acting like you're in a Wes Anderson film', including exuberant colours, symmetry and wip-pans. As funny as it is, people are loving this trend and I hope there's more to come.
From carrying out research myself, I don't think this filmmaker would had the same impact on the culture if it weren't for Stanley Kubrick, director of sci-fi picture Space Odyssey and the horror, thriller The Shinning.
Evaluation of 2nd piece
After reading my copy out loud to my fellow colleagues I have discovered the language and flow of my copy in paragraph 5 lacks understanding. To solve this problem, my final piece of copy needs to be rewritten to understand how a general audience might interpret the info.
Do I think it is effective in compelling my chosen audience?
This graph from Statista (a credible source) shows that the ages of 12 to 54 are the main Demographic for podcasts in America from 2017 - 2022. This means to obtain the most views I need to direct my copy to that audience. However, because this is a large age gap, it makes the copy not really
Why choose Script as my chosen medium?
A script,
Using the first word website I was able to roughly determine what the reliability of my copy was. The results was plain English. This shows I have successfully achieved writing in a plain manner (conversation based)
Acknowledgement of the target audience.
A conversation is about connecting with the other person. Using rhetorical questions allows the other person to really think about what is being said, and how they may relate with personal experience.
Data and sources.
Primary resources have not been used in the planning process of piece 2. As it indicates little acknowledgement of the
Draft Plan for 3rd copy
Children's blurb Book:
Blurbs are a great way for me to compress my total content without revealing too much.
Blurbs usually consist of 150-200 words. They are persuasive summaries that highlight the core content of a book, it is a marketing tool if you will. According to blurb.com, it is important that I reflect on the tone of the book to resonate with the audience.
Those who want to read this copy are likely to be people who are considering taking out or purchasing a book.
From general sources, having a good design element for your blurb is mentally stimulating for a child. To implement this idea I will format the copy in a way that's playful and humorous. The language and length of sentences are snappy and sweet, as I do not want to bombard the reader with information. Science shows that doing this makes you more likely to disinterest readers.
Children are encouraged to read often by schools; schools can supply these facilities, and so is a large part of my demographic. To make use of this information I will. First, include an educational factor, that way it is school approved. Then I will
These are soon-to-be adults. This makes it essential that I enforce good perceptions and behaviour. This means, no sarcastic comments and no statement exploiting the LGBTQ community.
Children are less interested in how reputable a book is. However, this does lead them to be susceptible to false information.
Draft of 3rd copy:
Welcome to the fantastical and extraordinary world of Wes Anderson! Prepare to embark on a journey to discover why everyone adores him so much. Anderson is a special filmmaker with a style of his own. His movies like Fantastic Mr Fox show us pleasing scenes that almost look surreal.
Just like you and me, Anderson is special! but there's something unique about him. Instead of loving math like some of us, he has a special fascination with something called "symmetry'. Have you heard of it? great, if you have, then you might understand what makes Anderson's films so captivating and visually stunning!
If you are interested in symmetry, why not try exploring Anderson's cool colour choices? where even eyewear companies have included their own Anderson exhibition. *
What kind of music do you like? Anderson has super cool taste in music! His favourite songs are those catchy tunes from old bands like the Beatles and the Beach Boys. These classic tunes serve as the perfect background music for their playful gatherings.
So come on down to the behind-the-scenes with us, for who knows what we will find.
Evaluation of 3rd piece:
Why choose this medium over others?
Blurbs offer a unique insight into the world. They are made to draw you in, a marketing tool you might say. The copy in a blub I find to be far more important than the book itself since this blurb could very much decide whether it is left to gather dust or taken home.
Data and sources:
Yes, this is a children's book, which means NO overwriting, and NO numerical data. Frankly, data is abstract, meaning it may not relate to the child's daily experiences or interests, overall making the copy boring, justifying my decision.
Format:
Some have newspapers and companies promote the book with small messages. However, Children aren't too bothered whether a book is highly regarded or reputable. They just want to read. For that reason, I would say there is no reason to mention sources.
Readability:
Using the website's first word I have again received a rough guide to what category in reading ability it falls under. In this instance that is plain English.
Final Blurb
